    Interesting - good example: The only thing is that Japan still looks quite open in some ways. I\'ve been told that Japan is very protectionist and difficult to deal with by engineers who have tried to sell things there, but have been told that Japan was very open by economists.

    Also, Japan\'s second boom, from 1950-1990 seemed to be quite protectionist.
