Agreed - Not a mess: The article is short, but it isn\'t a mess.
The point made is crucial. Politicians in the US, UK and Australia are losing perspective. They are throwing away our system that preserve\'s freedom because they say they want to \'save it\'. Really, a simpler explanation may be that they do not want to pay the consequences for their unwise and illegal war that was against popular opinion (at least in the UK and Australia).
The terrorists are, or definitely before the invasion of Iraq, were, weak. Unless they get hold of nuclear weapons it is unlikely that they can inflict a large number of casualties and really upset life in the West directly.
Western cities are secure. The suggestions made in the article that cities are insecure is disingenous scare mongering. Oklahoma city, after the bombing by Christian radicals, was not declared unsafe, nor are Western cities.
What are the chances of actually being killed by a terrorist? What are the odds of someone in Los Angeles being killed?
